Bio

*I have a passion to teach students in creative ways to reach their goals. *I try to explain or approach learning with an "outside the box," method with: hands-on materials, projects, movement, brain breaks, and collaboration. *I like to set goals for students and help them reach them. *Organization, schedules, and breaks are essential in learning and keeping a routine, however, having those "ah-ha" moments can take a different direction at any time. I try to be flexible, understanding, and patient. *I had to STUDY in school. I have an IEP that focuses on reading comprehension, spelling, and math. The struggle in school lead me to help and understand the importance of one-on-one instruction! I am an advocate for small classroom instruction. *Kids love me! They really do! I love to laugh...keep everyone positive and feel safe to express their thoughts and questions. *I love helping. I feel a STRONG desire to help families at this time!

Education

A little about me: I grew up in Atlanta, went to Fayette County High School. Attended Oglethorpe University (BA in Theatre, English and Early Childhood). Earned my Masters from Mercer Atlanta, with a MAT in K-5th and Special Education Degree. I have taught drama for over 12 years...and preschool for over 8 years. My professional teaching experience was at Lockheed Elem. 3rd grade inclusion teacher for one year. Then the GREATEST opportunity developed for me to start a drama department at Lockheed. I LOVED those 2 years.
